At the Savannah Book Festival, guests were treated to Stephen King's announcement of his next book, Dr. Sleep, a sequel to his beloved tome, The Shining. Bloody Disgusting breaks the story and the folks over at The Daily Dead even provide a video of King reading the first chapter of the book.
With this news I am even more excited to travel to The Stanley Hotel , the inspiration for The Shining, for the first time...and you know what? You're invited.
I will be screening my documentary about the history of the hotel which will of course, include all the para-creepiness you can handle. There will great paranormal themed lectures, entertainment and you can even go on a paranormal investigation. You can find all the details right here: Frontier Para Con 2012
While we're talking Shining, you really must watch this FANTASTIC promo created by British Channel 4 for their Stanley Kubrick Season! They've recreated the set of The Shining, complete with look-a-likes of the cast and crew members.

Haunted Slumber Party

A slumber party in one of the most iconic, historically haunted locations on the west coast is going down, and you're invited.
Its the Los Angeles Paranormal Pow-Wow, hosted by the Boyle Heights Paranormal Project . We'll start the evening off with an array of paranormally themed speakers including Syd Schultz, (Ghost Hunters International), Brandon Alvis (APRA - creators of the EFP and Haunted Discoveries) and plenty of surprise guests.
Dinner will be served and then, to your rooms for an unprecedented all night investigation at Linda Vista Hospital. The hospital has been increasingly active with unexplained events of late - hair pulling, mysterious shadows and an unfortunate scratching of an investigator.

I Will Follow You Into The Dark
Or, rather I invite you to follow me.

Short notice yes, but, little imps like us love spontaneity. I saw Nicole Strickland's talk last weekend at Ghost Fest Expo 4 and her collection of Queen Mary EVPs are wonderful. Louis Gonzalez is a joy to hear speak, especially when it is about EVP work and the rich history of this field of work. Then there's me - Merricat. I'll be happily sharing my research on the history of Linda Vista Hospital. Following all this chatter, we get down to business and investigate the historic Aztec Hotel. We'll have a time.

So Cal Para Con - October 2nd - mark your calendars. Look for more details in the coming days.

Boyle Heights Paranormal Project
The Boyle Heights Paranormal Project hosted a party to remember last night, in celebration of the launch of their new website, at historic and some say haunted, Linda Vista Hospital, in Boyle Heights.
The team could not have been more kind or appreciative hosts to the droves of fans that showed up. So many, that some were turned away. More on the event, the creeptastic locale and my interview with this unique and wonderful team, coming up soon. In the meantime, I'll let the pictures tell the story.
Visitors are welcome to redistribute and share the photographs, but please, do give a link back to Blackwood http://www.merricatblackwood.blogspot.com/
Many thanks.
